How Meridian automated dispatch across three depots

Dispatchers were rekeying every job into two systems. We consolidated intake and let routing assign itself against driver availability.

Rekeyed jobs

Challenge

Meridian ran three depots on two systems that did not talk to each other. Every job was entered twice — once for the customer record and once for the driver schedule — and the two copies disagreed often enough that dispatchers checked both before committing a route.

Approach

We made the customer system the single source of truth and pushed jobs into scheduling automatically, matching each against driver availability and vehicle class. Conflicts escalate to a dispatcher rather than being silently resolved.

Outcome

Twenty-two hours a week of rekeying disappeared and the two systems no longer diverge. Dispatchers now spend their time on the exceptions the rules deliberately hand them.
